Why Viaje ni Bree?
“Viaje” is the Spanish word for journey or travel. “Ni” is the Filipino word for “of”. And Bree, that’s me! It is a very witty nickname given to me by my friend. (Thanks friend!) Putting these words together makes this blog about Bree’s journeys.
I prefer to be called Bree, a 20-something Filipina who believes that a bit of Spanish blood runs through my veins. This inspired me to combine the above languages to create the perfect name for my blog.
During my younger years, I used to write my thoughts and stories on the spare sheets of my notebooks. Growing up and starting a career, I lost track of the things I used to do when I was younger. This blog is my way of rekindling my passion for writing. Having bitten by the travel bug despite being introverted, I’m determined to discover the world on a shoe string and with purpose. Being an accountant by profession, I practice my budgeting and financial management skills in planning my travels and trips. As a thrifty lass, a cheapskate rather, I make sure to travel within my means and see to it that my trip is worth every penny.
This blog is a collection of an introverted backpacker’s travel dreams and life aspirations with the intention of inspiring fellow introverts to get out of their comfort zones, showcasing transformative travel by sharing my thoughts, reflections and experiences on the road, and guiding others in planning and budgeting their travels.
“Certainly, travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.”
– Miriam Beard
